
Disasters for June 2025
In June 2025, a total of 157 significant disasters were reported across the ASEAN region, averaging about four per day. These events were recorded in Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Viet Nam. Indonesia recorded the highest number of disasters (86 events or 54.8% of the regional total), about 1.4x higher than its five-year June average (2020-2024). Other affected Member States were Lao PDR (0.6%), Malaysia (0.6%), the Philippines (15.3%), Thailand (10.8%), and Viet Nam (17.8%).
Six disaster types occurred in the region: drought, earthquake, flood, landslide, storm, and wind-related events. Floods remained the most frequent, accounting for 55% of all occurrences (86 events), which was 1.7x higher than the five-year June average (2020-2024). Storms and wind-related disasters also increased significantly, 2.4x higher than average, while drought occurrences were 1.5x lower.
