
Disasters for May 2025
In May 2025, a total of 155 disasters were reported across the ASEAN region, averaging about six disaster occurrences per day. These significant disasters occurrences were reported in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, and Viet Nam. Indonesia remains the country with the highest number of reported disaster occurrences with a total of 108 events, about 69.7% of all significant disasters in the region in May 2025 and about 1.4x Indonesia’s five-year average (2020-2024) for the month of May. Other affected Member States with their respective shares of disaster occurrences were Malaysia (0.64%), Philippines (5.81%), Thailand (18.71%), and Viet Nam (5.16%).
