JAKARTA, 17 MAY 2024, The ASEAN Coordinating Centre for Humanitarian Assistance on disaster management (AHA Centre) and Mekong River Commission (MRC) Secretariat have signed a Memorandum of Intent (MoI), striking a partnership that aims to enhance disaster management and emergency response in ASEAN.
Signed by Executive Director of the AHA Centre Mr. Lee Yam Ming and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the MRC Secretariat Dr. Anoulak Kittikhoun on 17 May 2025, the MoI covers the areas of monitoring and forecasting, joint training and capacity building, mutual exchange of expertise and experience, as well as technical cooperation and scientific research, among others.
During the Signing Ceremony, Executive Director of the AHA Centre Mr. Lee Yam Ming expressed his hopes that the strategic cooperation between the AHA Centre and MRC would bring positive impact to the people of ASEAN. “Through this partnership we can exchange data and information for better disaster preparedness and response, ultimately contributing to a safer and more resilient region,” he said.
The AHA Centre looks forward to a fruitful and robust collaboration between the AHA Centre and Mekong River Commission.
