Congratulations to the 13 ASEAN-ERAT members from ASEAN Member States and AHA Centre for successfully completing the Level 2 Course on Rapid Assessment on 23-27 September 2024 in Vientiane, Lao PDR!
Rapid assessment, or the process of collecting data to gain a clearer understanding of the needs of populations affected by disasters, is a crucial part of the emergency response phase and one of the primary functions of ASEAN-ERAT.
The AHA Centre was also honoured to welcome Mr. Naoki Minamiguchi, Director of the JAIF Management Team (JMT), who came to observe the ASEAN-ERAT Level 2 Course on Rapid Assessment with JABOT, ASEAN’s friend from Japan. We extend our gratitude to the Government of Japan for their invaluable support to this course through the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF).
With enhanced skills in rapid assessment in hand, these ASEAN-ERAT members are well equipped to support the national disaster management organisations of ASEAN when the need arises. A big thank you to the Social Welfare Department of Lao PDR for hosting the course and all facilitators from the ASEAN Member States, UNOCHA, and IFRC!
