On 10 April 2025, 24 ASEAN-Emergency Response and Assessment Team (ASEAN-ERAT) members from ten ASEAN Member States return home after supporting the national-led response to the M7.7 Mandalay earthquake in Myanmar.
This marks the completion of a 12-day mission to support the emergency operations in Myanmar. Deployed on 29 March, ASEAN-ERAT worked under the guidance of the Department of Disaster Management(DDM) Myanmar to conduct rapid needs assessments and help facilitate the coordination of incoming assistance. During the mission, they were deployed to Mandalay, Sagaing, and Nay Pyi Taw. Two team members were also stationed in Yangon to assist with logistics and coordination.
ASEAN-ERAT is a rapidly deployable team of trained disaster management professionals from ASEAN Member States with skillsets in rapid needs assessment, information management, humanitarian logistics, and civil-military coordination. Their presence on the ground showcased the spirit of One ASEAN One Response—demonstrating the ASEAN collective response with speed, scale, and solidarity in times of crisis.
A heartfelt thank you to all ASEAN-ERAT members for your dedication, professionalism, and compassion!
