From 21 to 29 April 2025, 16 participants from 8 ASEAN Member States and the AHA Centre honed key skills needed to lead the ASEAN Emergency Response and Assessment Team during critical emergency response missions at the Level 3 (Team Leader) Course in Singapore.
Team Leaders play a crucial role in ASEAN-ERAT missions—they make strategic decisions, navigate coordination with a multitude of actors, and ensure their team’s success in carrying out mission objectives. Their leadership has been vital in missions such as the 2018 Central Sulawesi earthquake, 2023 Tropical Cyclone Mocha, 2024 Tropical Cyclone Yagi, and the recent 7.7M earthquake in Myanmar.
Our sincere thanks to our host, the Singapore Civil Defence Force, facilitators from the ASEAN Member States, United Nations OCHA, RHCC, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies – IFRC, International Committee of the Red Cross – ICRC, and the Government of Japan for their support through the Japan-ASEAN Integration Fund (JAIF). Congratulations to all participants for completing the course!
